Hi! I'm Ashleigh.
I am a human factors engineer with an aerospace engineering and psychology background from Georgia Tech. I am specifically interested in the intersection between humans and complex technology, and I have a keen eye for design and a deep intuition of how people work. My goal is to work on projects that make these technologies safer, more intuitive, and accessible to all. I am currently working full-time in Redmond, WA at Honeywell Aerospace as a systems engineer on the human factors team. The site I am based out of is closing over the course of the next year, so I am actively searching for job opportunities in the Seattle area where I can use my skills designing and evaluating human machine interfaces.
I am constantly inspired by design leaders in all spheres, and the following quotes are a great representation of my approach to human-centered design for aerospace tech and beyond. As human-tecnhology interfaces and aerospace technologies become increasingly ubiquitous, I think it's now more important than ever to design with the user - all users - in mind.
Good designers never start by trying to solve the problem given to them: they start by trying to understand what the real issues are.
Design greatly impacts upon people's lives, all lives. Design is a way in which we can feel included in the world. Design can also inflict vulnerability on a group whose needs aren't considered.
Disability is not a personal health condition. Disability is a mismatched human interaction.
An exclusion habit is the belief that whoever starts the game also sets the rules of the game.

Portfolio
Every project I do incorporates a high-level of design. Even in my engineering projects, which are often content-oriented, I weave design concepts throughout the project to ensure the end-result portrays the engineered information as effectively as possible. Below I delve into some of the projects I have contributed to, and although I have partitioned it into the design and engineering fields, each category is often heavily influenced by the other.
